I received my indexing training from the University of California Berkeley, Extension in 2011. In 2012 I completed a course in Periodical and Website Indexing through Simmons Graduate School of Library and Information Science.
I am a member of the American Society for Indexing and former Secretary of the Pacific Northwest Chapter of the American Society for Indexing. I have been a pro bono indexer for the Pacific Northwest Chapter as well a volunteer newspaper indexer for the North Olympic Library System.
My university education includes a Master's degree in English and American literature from the University of Washington with specialized studies in Shakespeare, Milton, English Renaissance drama and environmental literature. I also have a Bachelor's degree in History from the University of Washington. I have taught university courses on Shakespeare, Children's Literature, and Writing.
In my pre-indexing life I trained as a small-animal massage practitioner at Northwest School for Animal Massage and was the owner of Kind Hands, a small-animal massage therapy service. I also trained in canine acupressure from Tallgrass Animal Acupressure Institute and reiki for humans and animals from Healing Hands Reiki and Animal Reiki Source. I have taught introductory courses in small animal massage to non-practitioners and to students of canine water therapy.
